As you may already know, at Maxine Lester we nominate a charity to be our charity of the year at the beginning of each year, and then lend our support in various ways over the coming months. This year, our chosen charity is Caring Together.
Caring together are a charity supporting carers of all ages across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk. They provide information and advice, run local community services, and campaign for carers to have choices. They support over 12,000 carers but there are an estimated 178,000 carers living in the region – a number which continues to rise.
The more money they raise, the higher the number of carers they can support with practical and emotional support.
Often unpaid carers are caring 24/7 with very little respite. Everyone needs and deserves a break sometimes, and with that in mind, we’re joining in with Caring Together’s fantastic #GiveCarersABreak initiative, raising money to help carers have some much-needed time out from their day-to-day.
The idea is simple, share a breaktime mugshot and donate £3 (the price of a coffee).
Take a selfie with your favourite mug
Post it on social media
Tag three of your family, friends, or colleagues who deserve a break
Say you’re donating £3 by texting C4Carers to 70331
Use the hashtag #GiveCarersABreak
Tag in @CaringTogether on Twitter or Instagram
And that’s it! For those who are a bit camera shy, you can make your mug the star of the show.
We’ve donated as a team, but tagging three people each would take some time, so we’re tagging ALL OF YOU. Please do share your selfies with us when you’ve posted too. And if you want to learn more about the amazing work Caring Together do, please visit their website here.
