Events for Easter 2019

With Easter Friday kicking off the bank holiday weekend with a summery bang, we thought we’d put together a list of things to do for the next month in St Ives and Cambridge. Whether you’re into tea and literature, boogieing the night away, exercising your chuckle muscles, or watching raucous family entertainment – we’ve got you covered.

InderpenDance Saturday Freestyle

Saturday 20th April – The Corn Exchange St Ives

If you fancy yourself as Cambridgeshire’s answer to Darcey Bussel or Ashley Banjo, why not attend one of Dancexcess’s freestyle evenings at the Corn Exchange? With modern jive in the main hall and Blues/ Expressive/ Tango/ Requests in room two, there’s something for everyone for a fun night out throwing some shapes!

Circus Wonderland

Until the 22nd April – Midsummer Common, Cambridge

If you’re into bright lights and amazing feats, maybe an Easter holidays trip to the Circus is on the cards for you! From fire breathing and foot juggling to award-winning funny clowns, who doesn’t love being spellbound by circus tricks and comedy? You can book tickets online up until the day of your chosen performance for some family-friendly fun.

Thirsty Biergarten

19th-21st April, and then every following weekend throughout the summer

Not one for the kids this one, but if you like beer, cocktails, and partying – especially in the glorious weather this bank holiday weekend, then the opening weekend of Thirsty Biergarten 2019 might be something you want to look into! On Saturday 20th April, the food will be steak and proper pizza! Running throughout the summer, it’s well worth keeping up with Thirsty Cambridge’s Facebook page to find out what further delights will be on offer.

Jill Dawson and Gillian Beer in conversation

Sunday 28th April – Stapleford Granary

In a slight change of tone from beer and cocktails is a word-y evening presented by Literature Cambridge. Acclaimed author Jill Dawson will be reading from her new novel, The Language of Birds and chatting to scholar Dame Gillian Beer. You can book your tickets online.

We also thought we’d include a bonus May event….

Stand Up Comedy Night hosted by Big Deal Comedy at NOVI, Cambridge

Thursday 2nd May 2019 at 19:30

They say laughter is the best medicine, so on the first Thursday of every month, head down to NOVI on Regent Street, Cambridge to cure your ailments (or at the very least, have a good old giggle!). You can book tickets and find out more about the comedians on Big Deal Comedy’s Facebook page.
